The Venice Biennale is one of the most prestigious and exciting exhibitions of international contemporary art and Australia maintains a permanent exhibition pavilion in the Venice Giardini. Lyndal Jones developed her project ‘Aqua Profunda – Deep Water’ specifically for the pavilion.
The work is an audio-visual installation comprising two parts – a single screen in the upstairs space of the pavilion, and five synchronised screens downstairs.
I designed and procured the technical system to deliver the installation and supervised production of the media, including a five camera shoot in Sydney and editing of the synchronised media in-house at CDP. I spent three weeks in Venice preparing the pavilion, and my artist colleague Tim Gruchy helped me install the technical systems for the exhibit. Freeman Ryan Design provided exhibition design and documentation services.
