Exhibition designer Susan Freeman of FRD, Sydney invited me to create a three screen video work for the entry space to the exhibition ‘Tang – treasures from\u00a0the Silk Road capital’ staged at the Art Gallery of New South Wales 09 April – 10 July 2016.<\/p>\n

Two screens presented sequenced\u00a0photographs taken in the modern city of Xi’an by AGNSW\u00a0photographer Jenni Carter during curatorial visits to the city just prior to the exhibition. A third 100″ vertical screen presented a layered triptych of video sequences derived from a shoot I directed remotely in Xi’an a few years earlier.<\/p>\n

The three screens provided a sense of animation and insight into the contemporary city of Xi’an, before visitors entered the exhibition to view the showcased 1,000 year old objects.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<\/p>\n
